Hull damage...Oops....Careful who rides your ski...

When the wife's cousin came by the dock to spend time with us and on his third ride, he decided to climb the canal bank and trash my hull. The ski was totally out of the water.

His only saving grace is that he's a marine, Iraq vet, so I have tons of respect for his enthusiastic service to the country. But because he's a gung-ho Marine grunt, he bit off more than he could chew even after I thoroughly checked him out on the basics of ski riding. He was having too much fun and the rest is history...

Check the pics...I was reading other threads about SMC fiberglass but this didn't seem to be one of those so am I okay with a regular fiberglass repair kit? Also, I bought the Bondo Glass Filler too.

Back on the stern, the hull around the tow ring is cracking so I'm thinking of taking off the old tow ring, adding some layers of glass inside, then mounting a stainless steel 5/16" u-bolt through the hull and bolt it against a thick aluminum plate inside. Any other ideas and is aluminum and stainless ok together?

Not sure about the glass repair, but stainless and aluminum are OK together. Your entire engine block is aluminum with SS bolts. It's all good.

beerdart...what happen to the bouncing bikini babe?

Do you think I need to flip it over to do the repair...I read about dripping resin. I've got easy access underneath the trailer.

Flipping would be the best. You need to sand a grind the area to feather it out to do the proper repair building up the glass from the center out.

That repair won't be that hard upside down since you have accessibility thru the trailer!
