Thread: Sponson question
08-05-2007, 02:38 PM #1
I bought a used race ski with spare parts. I have a couple of questions about these sponsons.
These R&D sponsons dont have a pocket relieve to go over the 1/2" bosses that mount the sponsons on the side of the hull. I can mount these but they stick away, the base, from the hull by 1/4. Looks real funny. Are these really GPR's ? early prototypes ? should I pocket or make a plate to take up the distance ?
(I have Beach-house on my other GPR and this race GPR and the mounting is very similar to the R&D but they have pockets in the cast spacer...)
Theses are Bullett sponsons...no adapter plate...do they mount on the hull ?
or am I missing an adapter plate to space them out from the side of the hull ?
No - neither are forsale right now.

I don't have any background with these. Something doesn't look right. Not sure what. You got more views of them?

All i know is that 1300's were flush, and 1200's had a bolt holding the internal threaded insert on...When I make my backing plates, I need to know which style they have....

Yep = mine is the 1200 style Maybe my sponsons, the R&D's, are for 1300s
So I will make a plate and space them out maybe spilt the difference and pocket them some and make a thinner plate.

you need to get a bigger drill bit then the inserts and drill them flush with the hull. Just be careful not to miss up the threads or the hull
