Flywheel snaps off taper on crank!

anyone know what causes this?? 2 stock flywheels, 2 different cranks both in triple pipe gpr on pump gas. Flywheel snapped off the tapered end of crank both times. second time, flywheel was lapped to crank.

Lots of things tried. Nothing bulletproof. Sad part of owning a GP12R.

    bearings.

Isn't there a beefier bearing out there for the front snout. I was thinking Crankworks uses a better bearing. Still doesnt make it bullet proof but I think it is better!!! As much as this engine shakes and vibrates it is easy to see why this
    stuff happens....

Kawasaki did a much better job on there 1200 slant engine. It has no shake at all or any vibrations. The balancers do there job on that engine.....

I found the issue. This guy was running a 14/20 with triples in the GPR1200 instead of the 13/19.

Thats has nothing to do with it. It will happen regardless of prop, exspecially when running tripples.

Some folks feel the 2" pump extension that was added in 03 helped solve this issue. As it was told to me how many 03's have I heard of breaking the crank snout?

    Cool

crankworks has a front bearing with longer rollers in it,also machine a small relief on big end of flywheel taper + lapping helps

I broke two Yamaha crank snouts

So I built a GPRXP and it looks like even after all the changes everything stays the same.
