I went with the Riva controller and it's been good to me so far. Going on a year now no problems.

I had the Riva one first, and had nothing but problems with it. Also, the pots are hard to see when adjusting them.
I switched over to the R&D Powershot and have been very happy. It has several tuning options, and I like the LEDs much better for tuning. So far, it has been very reliable and easy to adjust.

Techlusion makes the first generation controllers for both R&D and riva. The only difference is the sticker on it. So, one isnt any better than the other for first generation. Whichever you can get cheaper is what you go with.

I would like to try the R&D Powershot I have heard some good things about it. The Riva is hard to see and they never seem the same. Gphotrod has one right now that we think may be going bad after a RPM loss and zero difference after adjusting the the high speed from top to bottom we will try a new one this weekend.
