99 SLTH dies at WOT
First off this is a great forum....... I have been working on a 99 SLTH the problem started out with a cracked gas tank. we swapped out the tank (by the way that was a pita) and everything seemed to be ok. installed fresh plugs and off we went. the ski runs great for about 10-15 minutes. then all of a sudden at wot it just shut off. then you have to choke the motor to start it. this to me sounds like a lean condition.
i searched this forum for a while and pulled the carbs and checked the filters they were spotless also pulled the seperator and checked the screen all clean.
im at a loss what else could it be.
the thing that gets me is it seems to run great until it cuts off then once it starts it bogs a bit then takes the hell off and runs ok till it dies again.

Check to see if you lose spark when it dies.

I have a 95 slt 750 doing the same thing. The MFD starts flashing LOPR, it registers around 10 volts. It will sometimes show 12-13 volts but still dies. I have reset mfd and still no luck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have searched past forums but no one has posted what worked to correct this. My mechanic is 2 weeks out and I have someone wanting to purchased my 2 ski's and trailer.

Do a compression test and check your piston wash. I was told that a ski that dies at WOT most likely has a piston going bad.

I searched some more and discovered it was more than likely the fuel system( http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/show...highlight=dies ). I took it on the river and blew out the fuel lines and then discovered it was the fuel shutoff switch went bad. I bypassed it and it ran like new again.

maybe you should let the owner figure it out as he is the all knowing slowski!

1. changed plug wires.
2. new spark plugs.
3. pulled carbs and checked screens/filters
4. replaced fuel lines/bypassed shutoff
still doining it.
it seems after pulling the carbs and replacing the fuel lines its still doinig it but its different. it will bog down and breakup and then take off again. but it doesnt die.

My SLTH does this when you first take off (nearly cold) and after its idled for more than 30 seconds or so.. Havent tried fixing it yet but I be it is a jetting problem. Either too lean or too rich at low end.

pulled everything back out tank and all and it turned out to be two thin pieces of plastic that had been in the new tank that got sucked up in the pickup tube causing a lean condition making it stall.
all fixed now.
