hi,is it safe to use fuel/carb cleaning fluids like STP gas treatment in my ski? i have a 97 SPX 800.i know this is probably a dumb question, but i thought it might help keep the carbs clean.I also thought i should check with some of you guys who have more knowledge on these motors than me before i did this.
thanks for your help

While it theoretically is SAFE it is ill advised. Here is why. The TEMPO fuel lines break down and are gumming up the inside of your fuel system. One would think logically that the additional solution in a carb cleaner would help out right? WRONG...what it does is to create faster breakdown of the fuel lines...thus plugging up the carbs quicker...NOT A GOOD THING!
So do the right thing, I know it is no fun! Replace every fuel line with high quality automotive fuel lines... you will need 15' of 5/16 inch fuel line and 6' of 1/4 inch line get it from a NAPA store! Clean your filters, and fuel selector, I MEAN CLEAN EM GOOD!! then CLEAN the carbs, and put in new rebuild kits...
Viola...fuel problem solved and not coming back!

The best bet is to use SeaFoam or Chevron Techron -it's about $7 a bottle but you only use about 1/3 of it to a full tank on a ski.
Killer stuff, both of them. I use them on everything.
