Confirm or deny what I was told

I went by my local parts house this morning and I was told that in order to replace the starter on my 780 SLX the engine had to come out of the ski because the bottom bolt on the starter is a PITA to get to.

    TRUE OR FALSE?

It's a PITA to get the starter out with the exh pipe installed, but the bottom bolt isn't.

Well I did it. I had remove the u-shaped pipe (don't know what it is called) and the exhaust manifold and the starter was sitting right there.

That guy was full of S***.

Hey Xlint, thanks for the deal on the starter!

Out before I had a chance to say just pull the exhaust. Good Job.

Yea it was fairly easy, but I ruined the exhaust manifold gasket in the process. Oh well out of everything that should be a cheap fix.

Starter boxed up and going out on Mon. I bet you get it before a new exh gasket.
