Anybody running 2 cyl base gaskets on GPR?

I have a leak at the #1 cyl base gasket between cyls 1 and 2 on my 2000 boat and was wondering if I can just run 2 base gaskets to seal it. I have 3 extras laying around and will run 1 extra under each cyl (of course). I was going to try silicone but it may just blow out.

    Interesting.

Are they the same thickness as a stock base gasket?

Running to base gaskets will raise your port timeing alittle and lower your compression

Yeah it will, and it may be better for rpms on top.

If you are running a single piece head, you cant run 2 base gaskets on just 1 jug.It will sit approx. .010 higher and the head will warp. Why not replace the 1 gasket and be done with it.

Woops,i just re-read your post.I thought you said 2 gaskets under just one.... lol .Just put 1 new gasket under the one that leaks OR replace all 3.Running 2 gaskets will also raise the squish band.

Hey WW, I have all 3 cyls off and was going to run 2 gaskets under each cyl to make them all even. The problem is not the gasket but the surface of the case where cyl 1 sits. It was warped slightly when I had the cases welded and I tried to flat file it to make it even with 2 and 3. It is about .008" lower than 2 and 3. I tried filling the low area with jb weld and sanding it even but it didn't hold.

How bad is it when you put the jug on the case without a gasket? Does it wobble?

The problem is the case needs to hold pressure.I would be looking for another top half of a case to be honest.

What about coating both sides of all 3 base gaskets with 1211?

    Does that sound logical?
