    250 sucked sand. HELP!!

Well, with 4 hrs on the clock I'm off the water. I was flying along and didn't realise I was on a big sand bank until I got that sucking sensation from below. Stopped it straight away but in my efforts to get the hell out of there I must have sucked a fair bit of sand through. Looks a bit like around 2mm of wear on the impeller (and housing is visibly scored). Will now only do around 40 mph and cavitates (I think thats what you call it when its bypassing the impeller).
I need some advice on the most cost effective repair to this. Given I'm in Australia and there are only 46 250's in the country as we speak I'd say spares will be limited. Do you guys normally just get them repaired, go new, aftermaket (solas?) or what. Is it likely the housing will be needing replacement or repair? Any suggestions welcome. Are the 250X impellers same as Ultra 150's etc?

Damn jetskis make you poorer faster than heroin!

I guess it would be bad taste to tell you not to use the pump to get the titanic off the sand bar next time?

I'd go with the wear ring first. Put it in, and check the clearances. You might get away lucky.

    Wear ring?

Just wondering what a wear ring might be and how one might get it fitted? Cheers

and fitted a new wear ring that he makes from a better SS

so I will send in morning when I get to work and drag out the invoice.

When I was looking around for a prop for my old FX160HO cruiser
his name was also the one they suggested to get to BLUE PRINT my unit
as not only was my jet worn badly from same thing you just done but
even from new it never had good clearances between ring & prop
at the same time he did mine got my 2 friends BLUEPRINTED and close the clearances up to approx .45mm and I tell you now from some one who is picking up my ULTRA 250X in 18 days when next container arrives .

will be getting my ULTRA unit done as the 2 friends skis were heaps better out of the hole ( 06 gpr 1300"s )
and mine was not even that good the day I got it from the dealer brand new.
Stay cool could have been worse and had one of those funny washer things go KER splat bang POP and well we all know the rest.

Good luck with your new 250. Is it red or blue?

hey guy's i know it might sound like a stupid question but i thaught your wear rings are oem stainless steal? only brp uses those stupid plastic ones .

so i guess even a good fair amount of sand will damage the wear ring and impeller.

Thanks for that. I will check in the morning and get that guy's number and send the bits down (I'm in Cairns) I think OEM parts would be about $1000 from what I can make of US prices for a new impeller and housing. But I might check that too CHeers, Josh
