    RXP Deck/Foot pad removal

This site has been awesome with how to info and I'm in need of some insight. Due to a brutal paint job on the yellow portion of my 04 RXP to fix some "spider" cracking in the gel due to a near death collision with an Ultra 250 I need to remove the pads on the right side of the ski. My uneducated guess is that i need to pop the black caps off to reveal some rivets which will need to be drilled out. Can someone please confirm or Deny my train of thought.

come on guy's this can't be that hard of a question. All i want to know is how to properly take off the foot pads before i start riping and drilling. I need to remove the rear pad that has SeaDoo in it and all the pads down the right side.
    Thanks for any help.

u r correct bud... there's rivots. are you going to install the same mat again, or install aftermarket mats? if aftermarket, you can just rip the mats off and knock the rivets flush with a flat head screww driver or chisel and then dab a little epoxy over them... otherwise drill them all out and replace the pad when done with your repairs.

    wwerxp... you are correct.

Pry the little black plugs out with a small screwdriver and then use a small drill bit to remove the rivets. You can buy new rivets to re-install the mats. Try to save all the plugs and make it look nice again.

Or... buy a nice set of '05 mats or Hydro-Turf mats and rid yourself of those pesky rivets and plugs altogether...

if you have rivets holding them down then yes you drill out the rivets (use a depth setter on your drill bit as I drilled through and into a resonator once).

    Hydrotruf comes with instructions

Great thanks guys, I'm just doing a R & R so I'll be drilling the rivets out. I need to wet sand and fix a ridge of gel along the pads, some painters are brutal.

I took mine off and put back the Hydro-turf pads instead. I like the hydro-turf stuff MUCH better.
