A couple questions for the reed gurus

Since my engine's sitting on my dryer waiting for parts, I figured I'd go ahead and tear the reed assembly out of the upper case.

This is what I found. I'm a 4stroke guy so I really don't know what to look for. Pardon all the Q's.

    1. Yes I know I need to clean the dust and dirt.
    2. See the one reed, the third flap from the left on the top? It's not sitting flush on the stuffer. Is it worth buying new reeds, and where do I get them? OEM?
    3. Is the light rust on the silver plates okay?

I was going to check out all your pics but the pop ups were killing me!
it's definitely had lots of moisture and I don't see reed stuffers but the cages are were reeds sit and are attached to and they should sit flat and not be missing corners! u can get the replacements from High dollar replacement assemblies to just stock petals! Z

INstead of repairing this cages pickup some used 1300r reeds cages from someone in the forum and get a spacer from Lowell if you are on a budget. I belive they will outperform the 1200 cages you have, or get some VFIII if you want the most out. I got some in stock if interested.

I can use the 1300R cages and spacer on a stock 1200?
    What's a VF3?

What's in stock? The cages and spacer, or the VF3?

Right now I"m on a tight budget, I'm having to wait till payday to have another crank shipped. I just want her back together running for the September Houston ride.

I got the stock cages from Water Woody for my project ski. Everything seems good. It was cool to put brand new cages reeds and all into the new engine.

Ebay seller Thincnet is good to deal with. Very good seller. I've had a couple of transactions with him and he is coolio in my book.

    Not a bad idea.
Not to say you will get screwed buying used reeds, but it can happen. You could run into someone who says they are low hours, but they may not be.
