Exclamation New SL750 Owner... Fuel Problems

    Hey Guys,

First off. What a great forum!! I'm really impressed by the quality of the responses on this site. (I just spent the night reading as many threads as I could)

I just got a 1993 SL750 that looks almost new. However, only the first cylinder (one closest to the back) seems to be running. the other two are cold (if I spray gas into the other two carbs, it runs nicely for a few moments). I think it's a fuel delivery problem, and from searching this forum, it sounds like I need to get a three outlet fuel pump. I talked to a local dealer in my search for this pump, and was told by a polaris mechanic that the stock fuel pump is fine, and that I probably have a collapsed hose between the cylinders. Any thoughts on that??

Another mechanic thought that the carbs just needed to be cleaned. Thoughts on that???

Also, if you guys think that I should still get a three outlet, does anyone know where I can get one in Canada? (I need to get this thing fixed by the coming weekend, and don't have time to wait for shipments from the US to cross customs). I think I should maybe change the fuel switch and fuel filter just for the heck of it too.

In reading the forums, I realized that the autococker needs to come off, so I removed it, and just plugged the vent hose that was going to the first carb (Until I find something to cap the outlet). Is that what I was supposed to do? And what was the autococker intended for anyways???

Also, it looks like some of the fuel lines have been replaced on this machine, but I'm not sure if I see a water seperator. Does anyone have a pic of what the water seperator should look like, and where it should go?

Sorry for all the questions, but I really appreciate the help, as this is my first PWC.

Thanks in advance and again... Great forum!!

WELCOME to the Green Hulk Forums!!
At the very minimum, replace ALL the hoses, that pesky fuel switch and pump. I prefer the triple outlet for various reasons but with your time constraint I'd at least replace the thing with a stock unit and monitor your engine!!!

    Thanks! I'll do that.

But what is #12 in the picture? I don't have that.

That's the water separator. I don't know why somebody would remove it, they work great.

Thanks. I guess I'll order one of those too.

    OOPS! It's actually a 1993. That's why there's no water seperator...

I don't think that should change anything else though, right?

As it turns out, no local dealers can get that fuel switch. Polaris lists it as discontinued.

Anyone have any ideas where I could get one? (preferably in Canada)

The autoc**k was intended to stop fuel flow when the engine was not running it was supposed to stop the fuel draining from the lines and flooding the engine.
But they failed so there was a Polaris recall bulletin to remove them
