Thread: BSD Question....

I thought the Bow Spray Deflector installed on the other side (underneath) the bow lip.
Look at the PIC below, is this the way it is SUPPOSED to be installed? (This is not my RXP but just an example I found.)
Can you put the BSD under the lip instead?

There's not enough lip to fit a fender washer under there. It's more secure where you have it. Be sure to put either rivots or SS wood screws ( thats what I used) between each OEM rivot on the front bumper. I would add a few on the sides too. There's a lot of force under there & the BSD will rip out a few spots.

You can install the bsd under the lip. It looks much better under the lip. I cut some 1" strips of sheet metal cut at a slight curve, sanded them and then painted with rustoleum. I drilled through the rail then through the sheet metal. I then used 3/4" rivets with rivet backup washers. This gives the bsd support from the back. It was a pita to install and very hard on your fingers, but looks good and hasn't even started to tear off in two years. I don't, however, ride in real rough water.

Interesting! I wonder if mounting it on the outside blocks more splash than on the inside...
I do ride is big waves often.

I've put 10 on like in the pic. They work great. But remember they are a piece of foam rubber and take lots of abuse.

It won't last under the rail...not enough to hold on to.
