well I used velcro on top of the glove box and ran the neck strap through the loop hole on the steering column for if it came loose only has twice in real rough water. also this allows for unvelcroing and putting in the glove box when not in use.
dont have any pics but im sure you get the idea.
in my opinion and mine alone, handle bar mounts are gay
my 2 cents

if Ur going to use Velcro. Go with 3m duel lock. u will love this product. trust me it wont go anywhere. And its velcro.

+1 for 3M dual lock. I've used it to secure our helmet cams when we ride motorcross. After many hours of video capture, I'm still using the original pieces I attached about a year ago. Very good idea for temp gps mounting being that this product is plastic. However, plan on using a screwdriver to pry the halves apart. Once you lock this stuff down, it's on there for the long haul.

can't you just put the gps inside the glovebox or will it not read correctly?

I got the handlebar mount for mine and just trimmed 1" or so of the grip to allow the mount to fit.

on my rxt if i am solo, i slide it under the stap on the back of the seat and loop the lanyard around the strap as well.. works great if solo, tried putting it inside the glove box but it was losing signal. was gonna try velcro but the back or the etrex is not a real flat surface for the velcro to stick to.
