Water Pressure in open loop system

    This is just a FYI

I know this has been speculated upon many times, but i just received confirmation from a Yamaha board member who just actually tested the open loop water pressure going thru our intercoolers and exhaust.

The pressure ranged between 35-40 pounds.

    Thank You Jerry!
Do you know which machine he tested?
I`m wondering if there is a pressure dif between the yellow and red disc`s...PR...

I believe he would have been testing a 04 RXP... (correct me if I'm wrong)

OK, then that`s the yellow reducer disc...PR...

I just installed that disc after I went with the Riva IC and thru hull...

so my speculation that pressure testing an intercooler to 30 psi was barely adequate was correct? Now that it's been brought up again, was the intercooler tested to 30psi on the water or air/boost side? I'm thinking that the water pressure will go up linear to boost pressure with surges in both non-linear. I.E. water pressure will drop when pump is momentarily out of water and boost will remain high and other situations boost can be low with full water pressure.

He tested the water pressure on an RXP.

I'm not sure if washer will change the pressure and not just the amount of flow. When you put your finger over the end of a hose you get pressure but less flow just my 2 cents. When they restricted the water it might raise the pressuer.

    FYI,
the gauge pickup was approx 4 inches from the stock IC inlet, using the stock hose and a 3/4 plastic tee.

I believe the ebay IC's were rated for 45lbs , maybe Steve can chime in being he recieved the email.

I would think opening up the yellow disc a tad would reduced water pressure.

I think the yellow disk is on the pressure INLET???

If this is so, opening up will INCREASE pressure inside the IC, since you will be providing MORE water to the IC.

I think the outlet is the open hole on the starboard side of the pump.
