Modifying a boat trailer for PWC

I have a friend with a 24' boat and the trailer is 30' aprox.

He has 2 xp's and thinking about getting an RXP instead of the 2 XPs.

Anyhow, its a pain to haul a camper+boat and have someone haul the jetski.

Has anyone seen or heard of a way to mod the boat trailer and weld a rail with bunks toward the front of the boat and slip a ski in there instead of having someone haul a ski.

Like having the nose of the ski face the front under the bow?

    Thanks
    Mike

If you put it side ways, it would be too wide. If you could fit it length wise, it would put way way too much tongue weight on the trailer.

You would use almost 1/2 that traile for the ski, not counting the boat.

the tongue weight is 400 lbs now and add another 400-700 for the ski.

A new ball setup with 2 5/16ths will allow that much weight.

I am sure other people are in the same situation and wondering what they did.

it looks like a 10' ski will fit and not be too wide.

i told him to make a template out of card board and see

You are never going to fit a ski in there. The ski is bigger than you think. and "if" you put an RXP (about 750 lbs) there that weight plus the boat tongue weight is going to be around 1200 lbs . Minimum F-350 or bigger to pull it.

You could always move the axle forward after you put the ski on the tongue. That would lessen the tongue weight....

You could slide the boat back a couple feet to lessen the toung weight and it would give you more room for the ski. Put a trailer hitch on the back of the boat trailer and pull both. Or you could just put an outrigger on the trailer and lift the ski up into the boat, sort of like the ones that put skis on the top deck of houseboats.
