    Intake grate sealing ??

Pulled my intake grate last night to clean up some additional silicone SLOP in the pump tunnel, what a MESS in there. My question is on my 150's it didn't seem to matter if the intake or ride plates were sealed up after doing mods..

Wondering if the 250 grate needs to be sealed back up,,,, if so what areas ?????

Thanks Harry, I do have the service manual, just wondering if it is really necessary... ?? on the 150, sealing the grate and the ride-plate made virtually no difference..

You must not have done it right then, I had 2 150's, and sealing the intake grate and ride plate was mandatory for best performance. If you dont seal the intake grate, there will be a lot of cavation, and sealing the ride plate helps lift the ski up, and lets the water smoothly pass over the rideplate.

If your testing plates and grates it becomes a royal PITA cleaning up and re-sealing each time and then waiting 24 hours each time for the silicone to dry, and its hard to get a feel fo the product if you test days apart.. I understand ultimate performance, just wondering if it's o.k. to leave it un-sealed for testing purposes or it going to cavitate like a SOB..

If you dont seal the intake grate it will cavitate, the ride plate sealing is just for top performance.

Was night and day difference after resealing my grate, Harry pointed out what a waste the stuffer kit is, and I fully agree. My cavitation was zero after the reseal.

I wonder if I reseal my intake grate, It'll fix my cavatation. I do not have the service manual. How does it say to seal it?

Just look back up at the pics , I have been using this stuff called Life seal, you can get it at just about any boating store,,just make sure everything on the bottom of the ride plate is very smooth for top speed.just have a good look at everything when you have it down, you will see where it needs to be sealed, along with the pics.
