    1300 and 1390 difference

    Ok guys, I need a little help. I do not have much disposable income so I am watching every penny on my mods.
    I just completed a new top end and added the standard goodies to my 2000 GP1200R and I am very pleased. With that being said, I still want more.
    I can pick up a 1300 pv top end to replace my 1200 for $1000. I know that converting my 1200 to a 1390 will cost at the very least, $2500.
    None of the above set ups will be ported. None of the above cost even factors in a new crank and all the needed gaskets and seals. No biggie.
    So I guess my question is, is the difference between a 1300 pv engine VS a 1390 pv engine worth an extra $1500.00?
    I want to hear from guys who have had both and can speak honestly on how the 2 , non-ported sets ups, excellerate and top speed capibilities. I know a lot of it will depend on set up, I have my 1200 dialed in to 72.5 in the heat so my boat has most, not all, of everything that could be done to it.
    Any advice would be great.

    I am in the process of doing a 1200 to 1300 conversion and researched the 1390 option.

    My understanding is that any1200 bored to 1390 will change the port angles and dimensions enough to need porting to work/breath properly. Not saying you need radical aggressive porting done, just need the port angles and dimensions fixed to the new bore size.

    WHY would you consider going to 1390 and NOT port the cylinders?

    I never thought of it like that. I was trying to compare apples to apples.
    Ok, If i would spend the money to convert the cylinders, porting would be in order.
