New guy w/ sl 900 problem!

Hi guys, Another new guy here! I usually ride nothing but Yamahas.., but I found a great deal on a SL 900 w/ only 45 hrs on it. $900.00. Could'nt pass on it. But it came w/ a blown # 2 cylinder. Over the past week, I've rebuilt that cylinder, meticulously cleaned the carbs, & have done a thorough cleaning & reassembly. Time to fire it up & no go... The front cylinder is slightly backfiring through the carb. Any ideas? Blown reed valve? Tear down on that cylinder too? It's getting good spark & fuel. Any help is greatly appreciated, I look forward to being a part of this group!
    Thanks, Mike "orlo"

Welcome to the Green Hulk Forums!!!

Yes, backfiring through the carb is usually a bad reed. Pull them out and take a look.
