Why do intake grates HATE me?

I was out in the garage under the ski taking the tabs off so I can do some shimming and while I was there I decided to check on the condition of the 800 grate... this grate has been on for exactly 2 days of riding... sure as shit I look up there and 1 of the bolts holding it up is missing the bolt head. WTF!!!! the bolt is almost flush with the shoe with just a little sticking up... I can grab it with needle nose pliers but not enough to turn it. Any suggestions for getting this out? Also, does anybody know why this is happening?? It was perfect when I put it one last weekend..

Did you remove the pump shoe and seal it? Im asking because the shoe might not be all the way up,putting extra pressure on the bolts or you are over torquing the bolts.I think the book calls for 12lbs.I tighten mine with a 3/8 stubby ratchet and 10mm with a 6" extension.I just had a bolt break off my 06' because i didnt tighten it. WOOPS.... The grate became loose in the rear and snapped the head off.

go buy a new set of vise grips

heat the bolt up with a propane torch and see if you can get it to move using the new visegrips

NO NO NO! Those bolts only go to 6 lbs. You're overtightening them. And don't use them more than once or twice - replace them often, Clint, or you'll get a high-speed surprise.

Clint maybe we can try to drill it out.I have a set of bolt outs and we can probably grab it that way.

This is 100% correct information also don't use any 6 mm bolt that you have handy. Use good quality bolts that are the correct lenth. There are a lot of poor quality metric bolts out there (some come from China ect.) Your safety depends on the use of a proper quality bolt torked to the correct specfications. Tommy

    Grabit

Was tempted to buy this kit for an occasion like you're having. Think it works? or is it just another piece of infomercial crap?

Thats the same thing as an EZ out. I am sure it works, but it is probably just a cheap POS.
