    Bad Gas....?

Could 3-4 month old gas cause backfiring?

    Talking

    I don't smell anything...

I don't think so, but if it was left in the the direct sun/heat for a long time....maybe. If it ran fine months ago maybe the octane dropped. LOW OCTANE........ maybe

I left my GPR to be worked on for a non-related issue with a local mechanic. THe GPR had sat in the sun for 3-4 months prior to this, and he said that its the gas...It never backfired before, and he claims he didnt cause it.

Did you have any trouble getting it started after it sat for a while ? Perhaps you had to pump the throttle a bunch of times and had excess fuel the cylinders.

Either way if you have "old" gas get it out of there and refuel it.

Earlier this year I had issues with a throttle cable being to tight and had a backfire from the extra fuel. Here in the midwest we store them for 5 months then try and get them started so every once in a while there is a backfire.

If it only backfired once, I wouldn't worry about it. If it continues to do it, I'd look into a little deeper. Do some plug chops and if you can check your pistonwash.
