    Riva Ride plate/Reverse bucket mod

I see alot of you guys saying that reverse doesn't work has good after the ride plate install. The problem is that the Bucket should be opening up far enough to hit this stop. (see pic 1). But it can't because the sides are hitting the ride plate first. (see pic 2) There isn't really enough material to open up the slots in the plate,But if you notch the sides of the bucket like in the last pic in green to clear the ride plate you can gain about 1 1/8 inches more drop on the bucket. Should make reverse work normal again

What did you use to cut the bucket with? Material looks a little tough for a coping saw but I'm too much of a klutz to take the Sawzall to it

I used a Dremel tool with a cut-off wheel in it.

No, not yet. I won't be able to get out until this weekend. But seeing how much it dropped down compared to were it was I would bet it makes a big difference. It was your post about how bad reversed worked, and how it started blowing water up and over the back of the boat after the ride plate install that I started looking for a fix. I need my reverse,to hard to maneuver around the docks without it

Thanks for the tip and let us know how it works. Cue is right about the reverse. It acts like it's got an outboard motor on it splashing around when you put it in reverse. You really have to rev it up to get any thrust.

    Curtis,
with the notch fix on the ride plate reverse worked just like normal. I couldn't tell any difference between the stock plate and the Riva ride plate when in reverse.
