limp mode and electrial issues
Hey all, been searching the forum for two days now and this is the first time posting here; have a 2003 Virage with an electrical issue. The previous owner put in a new 18amp battery but it was half the size of the 19amp battery that it was supposed to have and the bike wouldn't leave limp mode and the MFD said low battery. I put in the correct 19amp battery after an 18 hour charge and the bike ran fine for about 40 minutes and then went back into limp mode. The MFD was flashing off/on and the speedometer kept maxing out and then going back to 0mph as if it was resetting. I checked the wiring box and and 3amp fuse was blown; replaced it and it blew again when i started the bike.
Now the symptom progessed - I start the bike, let it run for a minute, turn it off and the MFD "freezes", meaning the : in the clock stops flashing and none of the buttons work and pushing the start button does nothing. I disconnect/reconnect the battery and I can start it again but the same issue happens if I start/stop the bike.
Can someone look at the attached picture of the electrial box and let me know if the jumper wire was installed properly by the previous owner.
Another symptom - the MFD never goes to sleep.
Is there an easy fix for this? Or a short somewhere?
I read on another thread that you can hold the SET and MODE buttons for 10 seconds but I don't have those on my model. Is there a similar reset for the Virage MFD?
Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Here is the MFD section from the 2002 manual, I am sure they are the same.
Let us know what you find.
