    04 RXP Starting problem/question...

Was out this weekend on my 04 RXP and noticed that its not starting like it should.
I put the lanyard in place, listen for two beeps hit the start button and it just clicks once (like the starter works, but wont turn the motor), then goes to four quick beeps every 3-5 seconds (telling me i left the lanyard attached).
The ski only had 1.5 hrs on it at the start of the weekend. I have to keep pushing my start button, and removing the lanyard and putting it back in again to get the ski to start.
Sometimes i will put the lanyard in hit the start button and it will fire right up. Most of the time (99%) it wont start.
I cant figure out what im doing wrong (if anything). Is there a security feature im running into? This is my first SEA-DOO.

Maybe somthing as simple as putting a good charge on the battery.
    Thats what it sounds like.

I have an '04 and my starter went out last year...replaced under warranty. Very inconsistent and had me guessing what it could have been. It was simply the starter gone bad - who'd thunk?

I have "fixed" two of my friends RXPs now by scraping the build up of dirt inside the key off just like on a cell phone battery with bad connections the terminals need cleaning .. Dont overlook the obvious and dont laugh becasue sometimes it is something as stupid as that .. very well could be that you are not getting a good connection ..

Good point. I saw some other Dooer's lanyard and it had blackened, magnetized fragments underneath it that could easily cause a break in connection.

i appreciate all the helpfull info, but my ski only had 1.5 hours on it! Is it possible the starter is bad already? The battery should still be fresh as well.
