Testing Coil on a 1997 Softail

Does anybody know a testing procedure for an ignition coil on a Harley? The bike died on me while I was riding it (felt and acted like it ran out of gas), but it has gas and is not getting any spark. The coil is my first thought. I've got an ohm meter and can test the leads, but don't know what they should ohm out at. Common sense tells me that since it is a coil, 2 of the leads should be continuous, but there's got to be more to it than that.

I've never worked on this thing (never had to) and don't have a service manual. Any advice (other than 'take it to the shop') will be greatly appreciated.
