Thread: $60,000 question....

Jerry your input will be needed here.
So, is one better off to purchase a leftover 07 RXP or possibly an 08 RXP and mod it themselves
Buy an RXP-X
The reason I ask is because say the ultimate goal is to have a high 70's to 80 mph ski. Jerry says 75 mph is possible with small changes to the RXP-X. What will it take to get it running 5 mph faster and the big question being will you have to remove the new charger or intercooler that you just paid a premium for? So basically, can the new charger and cooler be retained to hit close to 80 mph. Will it only take an aftermarket ECU? How big of a limiter will the new pump tunnel be for top speed?
RXP-X --- $12,500 +
RXP --- $9,000 (07 leftover) + 3,500+ in performance mods
Which route to take?

Very good Questions, but you know the X has a different ECU, so I bet it will handle a bigger SCer without going Bigger injecters and stuff. I am thinking a STG III SCer and no ECU injecter changes needed.
Unless it has a STG III SCer already????

Yeah, hopefully Jerry will know where these new parts rate against aftermarket ones
Cooler as good as RIVA?
Charger = to a B-kit, RIVA S3?

Good question Mpower...I am tossing it up as well
I really want an 06 in black in marroon, and I know the price will be better on my pockets, but I do love the new RXP-X and RXT-X colors/mods

Time will tell if I am wrong, but did I hear the intake was wider(18mm) AND longer? My freinds this may be the speed scrubber even after u replace the speed-scrubbing intake grate......good for accell, but not top speed. I would wait for solid testing w/ aftermarket props and a grate b4 I did anything rxpx purchase-wise........my .02 (BTW, I am NOT a hydrodynamics expert, but I ain,t dumb )

It is a perplexing question.
My take on it is go new. There are improvements on the 08 ski that you just won't have on the on the 07 and below. Not just the warranty as some have mentioned but the little engine improvements, other detail improvements such as the handlebars, finger throttle, and not to mention the introduction of the IC.
even though the rxp-x is more money, just reading Jerry's write up you will building on a platform that it ahead of the 07 RXP.
to me the $3000 now is worth it.
The 08 will be ready to go and the good thing is the upgrades have been proven by a number of people over the past 3 years, so there will be very little 1st year model quirks.
Its a lot of money so you should ask yourself 2 questions;
What is it you want?
Why would you settle for what you don't want?
