Stupid question... but what would you expect from a newbie?

I've read on here that the GPR800 has the same hull as the 1200. Does that mean an Aquavein intake grate for a 1200 will fit an 800???

They are interchangeable. Alot of GPR1200/1300 guys use the 800R grate for more top speed. I don't know if there is a benefit by putting a 1200/1300 grate on an 800R, infact I don't know of anybody who has tried it.

your best off a 800 grate riva high performance grate. Since yours is the same hull, and us 1200 and 1300 guys are getting better top speeds on a 1200 and 1300r hull, then you also will get a higher speed with the 800 grate.

The 1200 grate is a much better all around grate, better hook up and holeshot. The 800 grate is a smooth water top end grate. This is how they work on the 12 and 1300 ski's and I would expect them to act the same on the 800.

The Riva Grate is the same for all GPR models 800R/1200R/1300R

R&D produces two different grates for the GPR platform. 800R and a 1200/1300R. The 12/1300R has a larger opening and more aggresive scoop. The R&D 800R grate is the one you want. This grate with some massaging has produced some of the best results.

The 800 grate works very well on the intended boat. The 800 doesn't have the torque in stock form to cavitate as bad as the 12/1300s do with the 800 grate.

To answer your question the hulls are the same except for motor mount locations. All the grates are interchangable.

hey guys the 800 isn't the top speed demon anyways so would he get any better holeshot with the 1200 grate?

i ask this only because i think i remember cosca said the yami 760 boats had better holeshot and fun factor with 155mm pump installed in place of the 144mm.

All the GPRs have the same size pump. If the 800 is in stock form I think the mild cavation with the 800 grate would help it rev up a little and get to speed faster. The 1200 grate does load the motor more but not sure if this is all that good for such a heavy craft and less power. The only way to find out for sure is to test both grates.

Those 144 pumps in the GP did kinda suck though. The 155 upgrade was popular around here.

Bill i've done a few searches and find no post describing the mods needed on an 800 grate... can you point me in the right direction with a post link or a person who's done it? Unless it's one of those "for 500 dollars i'll tell you my secret" deals then nevermind.

    thanks,
    Dave

2fast4u (Tommy Jordan) has probably the most/best modded 800 grate. I don't know if he will give up his info but you could pm him.
