    Cool Rave hit piston

98 GTX limited runs good...just put over 200 miles on lake Powell. I pulled the raves to clean them( end of season) to discover that one of them has hit the piston.I looked in and the piston and ring are damaged. The ski still runs fine! It will still beat my GTI... What went wrong?

Numbers of possibilities. Has it been bored? Was the RAVE recountoured to match the increased bore? Could be lean fuel mixture? The RAVE might not have hit at all...could be water intrusion also.

Can you post us up a pic of the piston and RAVE?

    rave hit piston

The engine is completly stock. The Rave red caps are flush with the tops...never been turned. The ski has never been rolled or flooded. What could cause the Rave to go down? Could over reving do it? I will try to post pictures of the damaged Rave and the piston.

It wasn't the RAVE...most likely water ingestion from the manifold to headpipe gasket blowing water into the exhaust. Doos aren't Yamis...they don't drop RAVES...
