    difference in motors

Hello everyone I was wondering if their is a difference between the fuji triple motor which is the blue motor and the domestic triple motor which is the red motor. I was offered a 96 SL 900 which has the domestic triple motor in it and needs new piston and rings on the rear cylinder but other than that in perfect condition for $1000. or BO. Now I have 2 SL 750's with the fuji motors and I am familiar with that motor but SL 900 is the domestic, is it pretty much the same to work on theses motors, and is $1000. or less a good buy for that ski.

    Thanks
    Joe

Motors are completely different...Granted they are both carburated 2 strokes, so the principles are the same, but none of the motor or carb parts interchange. SL900 in perfect condition for $1000 is a good price, IMO.

What is IMO? $1000.00 or BO but it needs 1 piston and rings for rear cylinder.
What I am asking is are these motors easy to work on, just like the fuji motors

    Thanks

yeah, if you can handle working on the fuji, then the domesitc should be no problem. There are lots of differences, like, the domestic engines use O-rings instead of head gaskets, but its not like they are harder to work on really.

I would say $1,000 for an SL900 that just needs some minor engine work is an awesome deal. Heck, new piston and rings even from Polaris is only like $100 bucks, maybe a little more.
