    Impeller removal, driveshaft

After you remove the pump and impeller is it ok to leave the driveshaft (long pole going into the hull) leaning down and not elevated a little.

If feels like something is holding the weight of the driveshaft. Didn't know if it was ok or if I need to put rolled up cloth to prop it up.

It will be okay left hanging.Just don't tow this way could damage carbon ring. Will have to elevate a little to start pump back on it.

not to dis-agree with my buddy Rocketman, but I just made a fixture to hold the driveshaft from inbetween the tines on the intake grate to center the shaft and take the weight so it doesn`t strees the carbon seal, this was for long term use...when I went to put the pump back in, it slid right into place!...PR...

That's not a bad idea because the carbon ring will chip pretty easy and a good idea for lining up pump.

    Thank You ...PR...

Here is a pic: note the hole is for a plastic tie wrap to go around tines in intake grate to secure fixture in place. The angled end fits flush against drive shaft. this 2X4 fits exactly nice between tines...

a little crude, but hey it works great...
