Is the S3 blower really any better than the RR/A-kit/greenwheel?

Check out these 4 combo's from the mod's database:

79.7 mph @ 8150 rpm, RXP244, 2005 RXP, ~Stage 3-, rider ? lb, L temp ?, E temp ?, Altitude ? ft, ? bar of fuel, Riva 3" intake, Les Cooke A (10 psi) SC wheel, Pirhana intercooler, 15/20R prop, mod exhaust stock location, Riva grate and Pro NOPAS, fastest with stock ECU, 42# injectors, stock engine, reverse bucket removed.

78.6 mph @ 8100 rpm, DIGGS, 2004 RXP, ~Stage 3-, rider 180 lb, L temp 86, E temp 93, Altitude 830 ft, 2 bars of fuel, 4" rear intake, S3 SC wheel (9.6 psi), XS intercooler, 15/20 prop, Riva exhaust, Riva grate and wedge, 82 mm nozzle, Pro Nopas, skegs, stock ECU, 42# injectors, stock engine, rideplate holes filled, reverse bucket trimmed.

78.4 mph @ 8100 rpm, RXP'in in MI, '04 RXP, Stage 2+, rider: 200 lbs, 75* L temp, 77* E temp, 800' altitude, 3 bars of fuel, DIY 4" dia rear air intake with mods to improve air flow, Les Cooke A-kit SC impeller (10 psi), Riva intercooler, 15/20R untweaked 4-blade, RR thru hull exhaust, Riva intake grate, 80 mm nozzle, RE BOs, stock ECU, 42 lb RR injectors, cam timing advanced, ride plate holes and intake grate holes filled/sanded, intake grate to ride plate transition matched.

78.1 mph @ 8100 rpm, speedy, 2004 RXP, ~Stage 3-, rider 180 lb, L temp 81, E temp 87, Altitude 830 ft, 4 bars of fuel, 4" rear intake, Riva S3 wheel, XS intercooler, 15/20 prop, Riva exhaust stock waterbox, Riva grate and wedge, Pro Nopas, stock ECU, 42# injectors, stock engine, rideplate holes filled, reverse bucket trimmed.

Notice how the quickest is actually an A-kit impeller (I understand the A kit, RR wheel, and Greenwheel are very close). All 4 have similar mod's. All have the stock ecu, 15/20R prop, and external intercooler. Is the S3 wheel only better if you spin it to 8500 rpm?

I'm contemplating taking the next step with my Stage 1+. I currently run 74.0 using the RR wheel. I'd like to get upper 70's, but not seeing where the S3 wheel is any better than the one I have. However, I don't really expect the addition of an external intercooler getting me the 3-4 mph I need to reach my goal either. . .

RXP244 has more mods than that. The s3 is so much better than the other ones you listed, it's not even funny. 1 mph+ better and a lot of acceleration better. If you're trying to have the best supercharger out there for our skis, get the Rude. If you want to go fast but not sacrifice your entire paycheck, get the S3. If you want to stay at 74 mph your whole life, stay with the rotax wheel.

Mike,I picked up approx 1.5-2.0 by adding the the stg3 over the stg2 setup(diggs can verify).I have ran a 78.7 on gps but couldn't back it up.I have however ran several 78-78.2 in the heat all with the stock ecu and 42'inj.The diff in the low/midrange is unreal which makes the ski way more fun to ride

One would think that the A Kit is a step above the RR and Green Wheel and a very close comparison to the S3 at 8100...will it mantain that equality to 8500 is the unknown...the S3 produces the same boost but moves more air doing it...? I think...my point the S3 offers the chance to upgrade in the future...the A kit does not?

I've heard of the S3 charger surging. I think I read somewhere that will affect things after awhile. Not sure how or to what extent though.

The S3 impeller and front housing is way better than any of the drop in impellers (Green Charger, Rotax High Boost, Riva/Vortech)

    Thanks for the help, guys.

Looks like the S3 is worth abou 1.5 mph over the RR. And the Rude is worth about 1.5 over the S3. Also, I think it's been shown a few times that the external intercooler is worth about 2 mph.

Seems like a medium-buck combo is the S3 charger with an external intercooler, stock ECU, and 42 lb injectors. Should scare the hell outta' 80. . .

    Thanks again,
    Mike

    Mike,

I just upgraded from the Rotax Racing to the Riva SC3. The SC3 has alot more acceleration and helped on top speed as well. My SC3 is only showing about 1PSI more boost, but as they have told you it has a higher volume of air.

Mike, your next step should be an external intercooler and go from there.

    s3 vs rr

i went from the stock wheel to the rr then to the s3 wheel

no boost guage with stock wheel
rr wheek 8.8 9.2 (no thermo mod)
    s3 9.6 (thermo mod)

the s3 is atleast 1mph or more better than the rr

the midrange is a lot better too
