    shaving the heads

    im was reading somewhere on here about ppl shaving off a lil of the heads. what does it do to the motor? and how much are u guys shaving off of them? If its a big hp gane ill shave mine down.

    Shaving the heads increases the compresion. You have to be carefull, higher compression can cause detonation.

    Of course, you can combat detonation with higher octane fuel.

    i now about more octane. like shaving a few thousandths off? how much are ppl shaving off and what octane are u runnin?

    I think Rodneyae eliminated 1 layer of a 2 piece head gasket and gained 12 psi. I'm sure it's a few thousandths, how much, I don't know. I do know 150 psi is required to use 92 octane or better.

    i seen that about the gaskets but i got o-rings. i guess ill just take a few thousandths off and c what psi i get. i better check what psi i have right now b4 doing anything?

    Since you have O rings, you may need to plow the groove out as well? Don't domestics have replaceable heads? You can just buy higher compression, no?

    i just checked my compression i got M-155 C-155 PTO-165.

    When the heads are purchased say from Randy at Watcon or Hot Seat Performance they also work on the shape of the domes. The shape is important for the flame kernel as it affects heat and detonation as well as just raising the compression.

    i dont think im going to mess with the heads isent m-155 c-155 p-165 high anyways or is that normal. its board 40 over everything else is stock jsut lookin to gane a lil more hp.
