    Pump Tunnel Crack Pics

This is the tunnel reinforcement that was on the ski when i got it. It looked ok. After my 80 mph passes sunday i noticed a little extra water in the hull. Looked under the ski in the pump tunnel and sure enough, a small 1 inch crack on the lower edge. Gutted the inside of the ski, started prying on the reinforcement a little, and it all pulled out in one piece as you see it here.
Im guessing whoever put this in didnt use epoxy resin and it just didnt stick.. Crack is minor and all is easily fixable, but this was a surprise to me.

what does the pump tunnel "under the ski" look like? time to take out the shoe, and do some grinding.

that tunnel reinforcement didn't go down far enough

    Damn it!!

Well at least you can do it the right way now and not have to worry about it any more. Doesn't look like they reinforced under the brackets either.

    Ross ,

Did you have your pump pressure relief mod on?

I had trimmed one of the edges of the reinforcement on the lower edge with a knife when i found it was loose... Nothing was done right... I now have a pump tunnel taco shell..

Yep, its on there and working.... Makes me wonder....

Where the crack was there was no reinforcement... They didnt make it down low enough as flyboy said..
Im just wondering why it didnt stick.. Is this what happens when polyester resin is used and not epoxy resin?

Yes. The polyester resin will not "bite" to the SMC.
