Thread: Impeller Questions

I'm Trying To Wrap My Head Around The Workings Of The Impellers.
The Pitch Say 14/19, Is It 14 Degree Pitch Leading Edge & 19 Degree Pitch Trailing Edge? Or What Does It Mean?
Using Same Craft At Same Altitude, Will A 13/18 Pitch Prop Give Better Holeshot And Higher Rpm At Top Speed But Lower Mph Than A 14/19 Pitch?
If I Don't Get An Answer It Will Eat At My Brain Away. Not Much Left, Any Answers?

If you have a 14/19 on the ski and put a 13/18 on the same ski, the engine rpm's will rise, the load is reduced on the engine, acceleration usually inproves, but volume is reduced, along with pump pressure and speed.
There is a window, go too low and you spin the impeller upon take off. Sometimes you actually gain speed with a lower pitch impeller, because the starting impeller may have been too aggressive, and lugged the engine below peak HP range, hence better speed with the lower pitch that allows peak HP.
We also have more on impellers at our "tech info" page at Impros.com
