    Compression

Me and my cuz (TheDome) checked compression on the Sleeper this afternoon. We used a new snap on gauge and the battery was hot. We were absolutely shocked at what we saw. After 165 hours on the Group K motor 145,145,146, front to back. This is the set up compression on a new build for the GK sleeper kit .

I'm not too surprised at the compression readings. A well maintained motor with good fuel/air ratios on all cylinders should maintain its compression well into the couple hundred hours. Someone who maintains good fuel/air mixture on any two stroke can look forward to several hundred hours of use without any major compression degredation. The key is to not let the motor run lean for any extended periods of operation. Look at some of the extended hours of operation on some of the forum members skis.....300+ hours. High performance shouldn't mean high maintenance....Where we get into trouble is trying to squeeze out that last 1 or 2/10's of a mph or 40-60rpms by running on the ragged edge. Great job on maintaining that motor! Keep up the good work.

Nice! no surprise though. That baby's just broken in. You should get at least 300 out of it before even thinking about rings or a top end. Good job on the maintenance and oil.
