Sealing grate to pump shoe worth it?
I was wondering if its worth it to seal th intake grate to the pump shoe? I bevelled some of the edges for a smooth transition, so I dont know how much sealing would help. Also, is completely sealing the pump shoe to the hull worth the added risk of a cracked pump tunnel? I have the PPK and feel a difference, but havent sealed the shoe to the hull to prevent too much pressure in the tunnel.

There is no reason to seal the intake grate to the shoe.

I was thinking of doing it to smooth out the gaps and make smooth transitions between the shoe and grate on the inside and outside. I mean people gain by filling the plate and shoe holes, so why no the leading edges?

There is some pressure relief by NOT sealing them together.Check your pm.

I would'nt grind on the mating surface of the intake grate at all cause you'd be changing the depth and the angle of the water flow.

If I'm not mistaken this is what caused Billy to have some serious top end dismounts and why he wears a neck brace for speed runs now!
