    questions about power valve?

i just bought a gp800r with 66 hours on it super clean engine. it needs a little work but i got a good deal on it the engine is very clean and the boat has no scratches under it or any damage except in one place. the boat rubbed up against the dock for a few days and did some damage but being very familer with fiberglass and painting i dont thing it will be to hard to fix.

what goes bad on the power valves? also what is the best fix for the power valves? i heard the waveaters dont last long is that true? does replacing them with an aftermarket power valve fix the problem?

Seems like servo motors spazzing is the main problem. The pins come loose in some valves and can work their way out and drop the valve. Thats what the Wave-Eaters prevent.

My solution is to just go with gas valves and eliminate the whole electric valve hassle.

Some people aren't that fond of gas valves. I think they are great.

Wave-Eater pin retainers have no reason not to last forever. The RPM couplers are more robust than Wave-Eater couplers. Thats the part that joins the two linkages between the cylinders.

Does your ski have a powervalve problem?

The Waveeater clips/couplers are pretty good insurance but im with Spud on the gas valves 100%.They are not cheap but are worth the money IMO.The waveater stuff will do just fine. The good thing about gas valves is NO MORE SERVO MOTOR,NO MORE CABLE ADJUSTMENTS, and the gas valves react alot faster.

woody is there a site that sells a kit for the gas valves? is this a 100% fix like you said? if so can you give me a link to the kit or a list of parts?

edit nm after doing some reading the gas valves on the 800 require a aftermarket exhuast system

    powervalve works without lanyard connected

have a 1999 1200 pv and with the engine off and lanyard unhooked the powervalve tries to reset about every15-20 seconds, love to know why.just put in a new engine but it did it before, kills battery eventually

I don't think gas valves will work on the 800 motor. there is not enough clearance for the gas valves with exhaust system curling over the pv area of cyls
