    Is it necessary?

Is it really necessary to upgrade my impeller if I buy the Riva power filter kit?

    mandatory? no....

too many variables. Depends on what your rpms are now and after the power filter install.... you can always just install the power filter, ride the ski and see what the rpms are and report back to us.... either you will be perfect, or you need to bend the stock prop, or you would need to purchase a SOLAS prop.... if u on da budget, then start one piece at a time and see what your ski NEEDS, not just what people tell you that you SHOULD be needing.

By looking at your RPM's. If the air intake pushes your RPM's over 8100, a steeper pitched prop will get you more speed. My findings are that with the Riva air intake, an out of the box Solas 14/19 is the best bet. But Shibby is right, your conditions will determine what is best for you.
