Thread: Installing Piston
09-01-2007, 10:45 PM #1
Im trying to install a piston but haveing trouble with the rings.
I have tried doing it with just my fingers, tried a compression tool from auto zone, even tried useing a hose clamp but non worked out for me. I had read somewhere here that you could use a pieace of wood somehow. I also found where some have used a bigger thicker ty wrap.
I got a friend coming over in the morning that is an auto mechanic to help but Im trying to find out if there might be an easier approach before I get back at it in the morning.
Thanks in advance
edit* Thought I would say this is on an 94 Sl 750

Make sure that the ring "notches" are lined up properly. Can't think of the name of them right now but there is a pin that stops the rings from spinning on the piston and there is notches in the rings that go against the pin.
