    GPS Mph vs. Speedo

I see everyone here is posting GPS Speeds. Why is this? Does the stock speedo only go up to 70? I am asking for my 04 RXP. I have a gps that I can try out, but I just figured the Speedo would suffice, however, I have never had it break 70. Should I bust out the GPS??

People post their GPS speed, because it is very accurate when compared to the paddle wheel speedos on the skis which vary quite a bit and is more of an approximation. Usually an optimistic approximation.

With my brother riding my ski, who is much lighter than I am, he saw 72 on the stock speedo, which again, is very optimistic but I guess proves that it can go over 70 mph.

well ok. I am installing some mods this week, so I will break out the GPS and I hope to see the stock speedo break 70. That will make me smile.

No...the stock speedo will not break 70 and mine is about 6 mph fast.

Alright!!!! Conflicting replies. I thank you both, but now I don't know what to think. One says he has had his break 70 and one that says theirs hasn't. Any others???

The STOCK speedo will read up to 70 or 69 on some models and will not read any higher plus all stock speedo are FAST.

Thanks for the info. I will have to check mine out tomorrow. It isn't going to be too great of numbers though. I am going out with a group of people and I will have a passenger. We will see just how close it is.

04RXP22, sorry for the mis-information, but was going off of what my brother said he saw. Will have to give him a hard time about it when I see him later.

Personally, the highest I have seen my speedo go is 69, and have radar'd my ski at 65.4 MPH late last year.

    Good Luck!!
