07 RXP issue, prop or sc clutch or something else?

Just thought I would see what you guys think before my buddies ski goes to dealership on Tuesday.

Ski has 17 hours on it. Prop is chewed up a bit around edges, I will admit I am not sure what constitutes "bad" or "minor" when it comes to prop. It is visably nicked and chewed a bit from a sucking up rocks and sand incident, and has had problem since.

Out of the hole if you go WOT is sounds as if it cavitates really bad and does not want to accelerate. If you ease into it runs fine, and still runs out well at top speed. Assume prop being damaged is causing this? Or is something else going on?

Any idea of cost to replace prop at stealership? He wont tear into it and dealership will fix it.

Definately replace the wear ring and clean up the prop some. If that dosen't help much replace the prop.

Dealer fixed it. I have not seen the invoice, but he said they replaced the prop and wear ring. Total bill $510!!!

Seems like a bunch to me. Has to be something else they did while they were in there.

Its possible to be 510. Just for a prop and wear ring in jerry oem parts store is $300. A dealership probably charged more for the parts. Then you get labor on that and tax. I could see it. Maybe they had another little minor thing. I made the mistake once of paying $80 for a wearing at my local dealer. That was just for the part, no labor.

Just for parts in jerry store, stainless wear ring and solas prop 425

You can get a stock prop for a hundred$ all day long on E-bay and the plastic wear ring for 40 to 50. If he plans to keep it he needs to learn to work on it or get used to those kinds of shop bills.

if ya can't work on it yourself, thats what it costs......would u say it's worth learning. The service dept here gets 89.00 per hr + shop supplies, u figure retail on oem stuff and that price is reasonable.........If I sold/serviced seadoos my shop would have a freezer dedicated to pumps for wear rings

Yep, That sounds like a wear ring and prop and 2.5 hours of labor.

it is a bunch and that is why they will never ever perform that service for me again.
