Do ProK F/A's suck?
I have been chasing a couple of unrelated problems and found my #3 cylinder ProK F/A cone, the titty looking part that seperates the center of the F/A from the air flow, was turned sideways allowing a straight shot of air to bypass the filters and socks. Also, the #2 one was loose and about to breach unfiltered air. I wouldn't feel comfortable gluing the "titties" back in place so I am going to abandon these things. I seem to remember paying quite a few bones on them. They seem to have some real horseshit construction now that I look at them. The #1 cylinder tit was just barely staying in place also.
More importantly, does anyone want to overnight me a set of non ProK F/A's that they aren't using? Something with the center part of the F/a's positively retained relative to air flow.
I seem to remember reading how everyone was using ProK a few years ago, maybe I just got a bad set?

I had some older Fly's that had this problem. They ended making a change and added the punched metal screen on the inside, this took care of the issue. I was told Prok/Fly would replace these units.

I could post a pic but you get the idea. The cone part turned sideways so that it was still within the filter element but allowing the air to bypass the filters. it was perpendicular to where it should have been.
I am really surprised I didn't seize but it explains the wide open rpm drop and instant recovery.
Do ProK's have the least delta pressure and that's why everyone uses them?

I will put the cone back in the element as found and take a pic when I get home. Also, I can call ProK and see if they can replace them but I am in a rush so Riva FAs are going in now. If ProK replaces these, I will sell them here.
Once I had the the pipe out, I put my finger into the number #3 FA hole and the cone was turned sideways. It didn't happen when I was pulling the carbs out. Its good that no one else has had this problem.

As found the FA cone looked a bit like this....
Cool if ProK will replace it, they should, that cone should be more rigidly fastened.
I have had em in for around 120 hours. It may have taken awhile for that cone to get loose.

The newer units have a secondary screen inside that holds the cone in place. BTW I run nothing but Proks
