Skat 3 blade testing on lightly modded RXP
I know you guys have been waiting a long time for me to test the new 3 blade on a lightly modded ski. I finally got to it today.
1st lets recap.
Last time out on Careys ski i ran a peak speed of 71.7 at 8100 RPM's with 3 bars of fuel.
Her mods are:
Riva air intake (un modified)
Riva thru hull exhaust
Riva pro block offs
Now, the only change i made was to install one of the new Skat 14/19 3 blade props. I knew from experience that these seem to have more pitch than advertised so i took 1mm out of the trailing edge.
Got on the water today with a full tank of fuel and was shocked
I was still able to turn 8000 RPM's at 72+ MPH with a full tank. Peak speed was 72.6 and i could hold 72.2 most any time.
Holeshot is insane as is lower RPM acceleration. Higher RPM accel is a bit lazy as this thing is still pitched a bit heavy for this level of modifications.
NOW, add an intercooler and a Vortech impeller and i think this pitch will be just right.
Don't go rush out and buy these things just yet. Im going to work with GP at Skat a bit more to come out with just the right pitch for these lightly modded skis.
Im still in shock! 72+ with very few mods
I think with some pitch work to gain my 100 RPM's back and with only 3 bars of fuel high 73's would be easy.
Now off to my workshop to epoxy on the skegs

Jerry did you notice any vibration that everyone keeps talking about. I know I didn't notice it on my '03 GTX and it was not as bad with shaft deflection an did not get into wear ring as bad as the four blade. Of course I guess the triple bearing mod takes care of this anyway.

Yehaaa, Just got a VM from Greg at Skat and my stuff will be here on Friday. If I miss the UPS truck, I'll be carrying my arse to "Will Call" pick-up at the station. Can you put a bend in the Skat 3 blade for me or do I have to send it back to Glen for this? I may just test both the Skat and Solas 15/20, get some RPM's, and then send both to you at the same time? Oh yeah, is the impeller tool the same for the Skat as the Solas?

Yes, the tool is the same. It uses the same driveshaft
