    Rev limiter

What is it at? And does it cut fuel or spark once reached?

    * A Rev limiter is a device fitted to an internal combustion engine to restrict its maximum rotational speed. This is usually carried out to prevent damage to the engine, and it carried out by the electronics in the OEM ECU/CDI.
    * REV Limiters prevent damage to an engine by interrupting the power that is distributed to the spark plugs, this prevents the engine from operating above a pre-determined RPM level known as the red-line. The RPM level that results with the spark being arrested can be a constant level [preset RPM], or, with the proper ignition control modules, [variable].
    * Advents for example have variable Rev limiters. In automobiles, aftermarket companies such as Accell and MSD have Rev limiters.

    * In a nut shell, they protect your engine from over-rev damage by smoothly limiting the RPM to an amount that is internally programmed or what you program.

At the risk of sounding like an idiot (If I havent done this already!)

I was under the impression that our ski's didn't use rev limiters.. I thought our engine RPM's were governed by prop pitch..
