    question on intake grate

I have seen different answers to which intake people like. I have the riva grate that came with my stage one kit installed now.
I ride mostly on the river with some ocean riding.
I understand that the riva grate is suppose to force water to the pump faster than a stock grate.
My question is.. will the stock grate push in a greater volume of water versus the riva , where as the riva grate is just pushing water in faster and not more volume??

I have pretty consistant numbers with my riva grate that if I put stock back on I should get a good comparison.
    any suggestions??

The Riva grate just loads the pump more efficiently. It forces water to the top of the pump where you need it most. You definately want to leave the Riva grate on, but it would be interesting for you to put the stock one back on after riding with the Riva just so you could see the difference.

I think I will try the stock one...I can always go back to the riva...I am just trying to get as much speed and rpms as possible with what mods I have..

I ran with a stock 05 rxt today..The hole shot I put him away and probably had about 5 boat lengths on him. I felt he was holding that pace but he said I was still slowly creeping away and getting more distance from him.
Our idle rpms were both at 1750-1800 but his top end rpms were 8000-8100 were as mine were 7800-7850. and this has been my consistant rpms all summer.
crazedrxp told me I should send my prop to you for a repitch. what do you think?

Riva grate is a notable improvement over the stock. Stays hooked. Its like having traction bars installed. The pump is kept in the water where it belongs Love the way it makes the ski feels.

I ran both on the same ski in the same day hence the same conditions and noted a 1.2 MPH increase with the Riva Grate

I remember shibby and a couple other people reporting loss of speed with the Riva on and RXT, and no noteable hookup difference....

I dont really feel like pulling the grate anyway..think I'll just leave the riva on...but I do need to figure out how to get my rpms from 7800-7850 up to what I think should be around 8100...as far as I can get from everyone I need to repitch the prop
