Thread: Bucking at 82+

    Bucking at 82+

I have hit the buck again at just a little over 82. I am running a 800 grate with a .040 shim under the front, a FF Jim plate at .950 angle and Jims tabs shimmed .100. IM running a Dynafly in the HO pump with no extension.

What do I need to do next? Cool weather is almost here and I expect my revs to go up over 150 rpms. I cant stand that with this buck....

Jims plate should measure over 1000 unless you lowered the rear of the plate. Set the plate where Jims instructions told you to and lower the tabs untill there is no buck. Or put a 1200 grate with the set up you have.

Or do a pressure relief mod and start all 0ver.

    buck

I was running the plate at 1.000. The buck was worse and it happened sooner, by lowering the plate to .950 the boat went faster before it bucked. Now here I am again.

I guess I will put some more spacers under the tabs....then maybe raise the plate back up to 1.000.

I havent even thought about the relief mod because I was under the assumption that those doing it had the 2 inch extension....

I am sure slowing it down 2-4mph would help with the buck!!!!

    PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!

At those speeds, I would go to the 2" extension and do the releif mod.

Dude, it's all about tuning the hull. Get that ski out on the water, and start adjusting tabs and rideplate angle. It's a matter of hitting on the right combo for your ski - not a one size fits all combo. It just takes a little time.

I'm not so sure about that shim under the grate. I've never had any luck screwing with the grate angle - it always seems to result in evil handling problems.

Dude,,,,I used to fly small private aircraft,,,These planes used to start to buck around takeoff speed....just before rotating.....it was caused by a little phenomenon called "ground effect"...Maybe, just maybe the suminabitch is trying to TAKEOFF!!!!!!! You goin to have to start incorporating some spoilers or something to keep er on the ground...ummm I mean water....
