Question Fuel spits out from hole in hood latch, Weird.

Need some help figuring out how/why the hood latch could be spitting fuel when I fill up or try burping the air from the tank to get that little extra in.

Has just started doing it about a month ago, or so I noticed.

To create the mental image, the hood latch has a rubber seal around it whereby it is sealed off when the hood is closed/locked down.

(There is a hole in the center of the latch by design)

    What is it doing?
Is this a vent as I recall being able to get more gas into the tank before it happened.
Where is it being fed from and what can I do to control it from spurting out?

If an image is required I will post one.

That is the vent for the gas tank. It will always leak gas when over filled or even if it is full and the ski sits in the hot temps for long as it will release.

    No biggie.

Well, it is biggie in a way.
I had made a silicone seal under the ice bucket for absolute waterproofing.
The seepage of that damn little spout ate it up. At least I now know how to dissolve Dow 100% clear silicone.
Also orange peeled my clear in pretty much the same area.

I need to stop it though. So where exactly will I find it on the tank? Front? Back? Side?
Also wondering if I could re-rout it completely as it is a stupid place for it, and specially when the rubber around it is deteriorating and I get blind sided by a wave. (Water seepage in)

Im assuming you have a 96 type hull (x4) and the fuel is coming out of the black rubber mushroom gismo near the hood latch pin?

There are 2 one way valves in the vent system, The one under the mushroom allows air into the tank and there is another one that allows pressure out. Its just below the bond line on the side.

One and/or the other are rooted.

I'm with Chip, if the check valve is working properly then no fuel should ever come out this vent (unless you roll the ski upside down). Trace it under your hood, the lines tee and one goes out the side of your hull. This is where the fuel should normally exit, if ever.

So...if someone hasn't removed the check valve, then replace it.

    Thanks .)

Thanks guys. I will pull it and see if there is something I can do with it before replacing.
