250X idles at 2200 RPM in water

It also idles anywhere from 3000-6000 RPM out of water and is erratic. Stable at 2200 RPM when in the water. I had the throttle body off and stepper motor off. Cleaned both and re-installed. same thing. Service manual says to check resistance on stepper motor but this checks OK. Idle is controlled from the ECM and although there is an adjusting screw on the throttle body, it's marked with white paint and the service manual says not to adjust it.
Anybody have this problem or adjust their idle speed?

    Hey man,

The idle in the water is lower because of the water resistance on the prop, but...

Maybe try disconnecting the smart steering connector? I noticed my idle got hung up on the trailer during cleaning and centered the handlebars and the idle came down. I'd give that a shot first.

Other than that I dont have any other info for you, I'm sure someone else will chime in if they have other ideas.

    Good Luck!

    Also very true lol

I'm just the type to figure out the issue myself and then bring it in and tell them what is wrong...Otherwise your toy sits there for a month.

check your throttle adjustment at the throttlebody, also look for loose hoses.

    AHHHH yes....

When you had the throttle body out, make sure you didn't knock off the vacuum line that goes to the relief valve....That would prevent venting of the Supercharger boost at idle...Possibly could cause your idle to go up!

    - Checked the throttle linkage and OK, checked the steering position sensor and that's not the problem. All hoses OK including the vacuum line to the BOV.
The water resistance on the prop should only make about 100RPM difference. In fact Kawi says it should be 1300RPM both in and out of the water.

Has anyone tried adjusting the screw on the throttle body that Kawi says shouldn't be adjusted?

And yes it's still under warranty but problem is there's no dealer in the area.

    Thanks for the help.

If Kawi says not to touch it and you do....you are going to be buying a new part. some of those are calibrated at the factory with no field servicable parts.
