how do you know if the rave valves are opening or not?is there a way to check there functioning properly?

Note what your top RPM's are now. Then to check the RAVE Valves, remove the springs from inside the RAVE Valve caps (black and red caps), replace the caps and run your ski without the springs. Your ski will be doggy on the bottom end, but if the rpms increase substantially with the springs removed you have a RAVE Valve issue.

if only i had a tach or even a dreamo meter....ive got a gas gauge and a busted vts gauge thats it.any other ways to know?

Take off the caps/springs then start the ski on the hose, work the throttle & watch the raves go up and down, shouldn't take but 15-30 seconds.
