gpr pistons & coatings ?
Anybody know what type of coatings are on these piston tops?
How about what type of piston is in the center.
Center piston came in the white box.
The markings on top are punched in, not cast in like the other 2 pistons.
Other than that, all three are identical inside and out, except for the coatings only on 2 of them.
Any help here would be much appreciated.

Hard Anodic Oxide Coating
From the Yamaha Mot Tech Rev
I think this is it above ^..........
for aftermarket companies, http://www.swaintech.com/store.asp?pid=10312 offers coatings
And some companies like Namura for dirt bikes use molybedenium/teflon skirt coatings.

This Hard Anodic Oxide Coating from your link above... is it
a stock coating from Yamaha that comes on some of their piston tops ?

Center piston looks like the 05 and up forged OEM while the other 2 appear to be the 03/04 OEM.
All the OEM 1300 pistons now have been superceeded to the new style. Not sure of what the coating consists of but the new ones are forged and coated on the sides and top.

Hey Duke thanks for the help.
The center piston does not have any coating on the top.
The skirt does seem to have some sort of break in coating identical to the other 2 piston skirts coatings. But the other 2 pistons do have some sort of grayish/blackish coating on top???
